LOOPS is a set of object-oriented programming extensions to Venue'sMedley development environment. It supports message passing and multipleinheritance. Active Values lets users write code to be run when instancevariables change -- a simple way to build user interfaces. Gauges,Browers, and a rich library of graphical objects save time when buildinggraphics applications. LOOPS is integrated with Medley's development anddebugging tools, so users can get applications up faster and more easily.Finally, LOOPS supports rule-based programming, so adding an expertsubsystem to applications is easy: rules are integrated with methodinvocation, making it easy to add them to one small area of a system, andmaking them easy to debug.
